Willa Collins returns to Woodcrest University after an emotionally brutal year away. Last summer, she put her education on hold to return home to North Carolina and care for her terminally ill mother before her passing. The experience forced her to grow up faster than she ever expected, and while she once radiated warmth and optimism, grief has dulled the spark she was known for. Now, she’s doing her best to push forward, holding herself together for the sake of her father, who is struggling to adjust to life without his wife. Willa was deeply involved in campus life before she left, balancing her passion for art with a love for sports and social activities. She hopes to rejoin her sorority, Tri Pi, and ease back into the routines that once made her feel at home away from home, including cheerleading, swimming, and soccer. But the world she left behind feels different now, or maybe she’s the one who has changed. As much as she wants to reclaim the life she once had, she’s haunted by the fear that some parts of her will never be the same.
