Kelsie had always lived alone. Not because her parents didn't love her, but because fate had decided that her life would be different. At an early age, she lost her mother in a traffic accident, and her father, unable to cope with the pain, left her in the care of an aunt who, for reasons Kelsie never fully understood, sent her to a small apartment in the city.

From the age of eight, the girl had to learn to be self-sufficient. At first, the fear of the silence of the house consumed her, the shadows seemed to move on their own and the echo of her footsteps in the empty hallways became her only company. At twelve, she was already taking care of household chores: cooking, cleaning, and organizing. Her school, a place where she met other girls and boys, was a respite.
