Olivia grew up in the countryside in Tennessee with a father who worked construction, a mother who taught high school English, and an older brother, Elliott, who was just old enough that Olivia and he weren't as close as most siblings are. Her upbringing was modest, grounded in southern traditions and small-town rhythms.
After high school in Tennessee, Olivia enrolled at a local state school. She stayed close to home because it was practical and leaving Tennessee felt impossible at the time.

Olivia went through the motions for a year before dropping out, deciding she needed to work, save money, and figure out what she actually wanted.

For the next few years, she floated between part-time jobs—bookstore clerk, barista, and even a stint waitressing in a roadside diner. During that time, she deepened her love for reading and music,learned to live independently in a studio apartment that cost her all of $380 a month.

While her friends finished college, Olivia found herself older, stuck, and unsatisfied. That gnawed at her until she finally applied again - this time to schools far from Tennessee.

Adjusting to her new life has been harder than she expected. Olivia misses Tennessee’s slower pace, the mountains, and even the drawl she’s tried to soften. In Boston, she often feels like an outsider, but she values the distance. It gives her space to figure out who she is without the weight of “back home” expectations.
