The second-oldest child of a large Sicilian family, Mariella DeRosa grew up in the gritty but close-knit streets of Little Neck, New York, navigating life between 41st Street and 41st Road. Her father, an attorney who commonly defended criminal defendants and brought claims against the City of New York, taught her to question authority and that there was always two sides to a story. And of course, that money could always persuade too. Always the wild child, she developed a rebellious streak early on, pulling pranks, ditching classes, and getting into minor trouble. Yet, beneath her carefree attitude, Mariella was constantly curious about life’s deeper questions, which eventually led her to pursue a degree in Biology at Woodcrest University in Massachusetts.

At Woodcrest, Mariella joined the infamous MEH house, known for its wild parties and unconventional students. She fit right in, quickly becoming a fixture in the campus scene, known for her humor, boldness, and carefree attitude. Though she frequently skips classes, she surprises everyone with her ability to pull off solid grades when it matters.

Her run-ins with the law—mostly for graffiti, reckless driving, and minor drug offenses—are just part of her ongoing defiance against authority. Mariella lives for the thrill and the moment, enjoying weed, psychedelics, mushrooms, and wild motorcycle rides. She’s fiercely loyal to her friends and doesn’t hesitate to push boundaries, especially with authority figures.

A key figure in her life is Austin Mitchell, her older brother Tony’s best friend from childhood. When they unexpectedly reunited at Woodcrest, sparks flew, rekindling an on-and-off romantic relationship. Mariella feels a strong bond with the good-looking and intelligent Austin as they have known each other from such an early age. But she tests Autin’s patience with her impulsiveness and her tendency to be free with her affections, and because she sees things in more shades than Austin typically chooses to, resulting often in conflicts between them. Though things are currently “off,” their passionate encounters continue when they meet, complicating her already chaotic life.

Driven by a desire for freedom and self-discovery, Mariella’s journey is a constant balance between her love for wild fun and her budding interest in the natural world through biology. Whether she’s breaking the rules or chasing the next adventure, Mariella always stays true to herself and to those she loves.
